Common Discourse is a project designed to help others (and ourselves) think through creativity, focus, and intentional work—from Alex Tan & Alice Otieno.
Every Tuesday we share an idea from us, a quote from somebody else, and links worth sharing. On Fridays we invite a guest to share images from their camera roll and a sound that resonates with them.
This week’s Sights & Sounds comes from Tess Murdoch, a colour and trend forecaster in the home and apparel industries.
Beyond forecasting, she fosters a quiet artistic practice by combining hand-dyeing, weaving, and embroidery with visual and material research, some of which can be found on Are.na or her website. My personal favourite channel of hers is one titled A Library of Gestures. I love how you can feel the intimacy and tenderness radiating through the screen as you scroll through it.
She encourages folks to always reach out to talk about potential creative collaborations or just to say hi.
Here’s what she shared with us.
