Sights & Sounds: Oliver Campbell
Common Discourse is a project designed to help others (and ourselves) think through creativity, focus, and intentional work—from Alex Tan & Alice Otieno.
Every Tuesday we share words from a few ideas, a quote from somebody else, and links worth sharing. On Fridays we invite a guest to share images from their camera roll and a sound that resonates with them. Words from the journal will come at least twice a month.
Happy Friday!
Another week where we are given the chance to peak into someone’s camera roll, notes or music library. This week I reached out to Oliver Campbell to see if he would be interested in sharing what he’s recently been thinking about or observing through images and a sound.
Oliver is an Art Director and Designer currently based in Barcelona, but soon moving to Copenhagen. We connected earlier this year while working together at MW.S on an upcoming video project for The Neutra VDL House.
Every week, it is always such a pleasant surprise to open an email, G drive or We Transfer link and see how people have interpreted the very open ended ‘brief’ we give them.
Here’s what he shared with us.

Sights —
As I write this I’m sitting in my living room surrounded by boxes that need shipping, piles of books that need sorting, and bubble wrap. It’s been over six years since moving to Barcelona, and in two weeks my partner and I are leaving for Copenhagen. In this moment of change I feel drawn to these images of stagnation. Lacking mobility in place or time, the opposite of what moving to a different city in a different country is feeling like right now. It’d be nice to take a siesta and wake up in Copenhagen… — Oliver

Thanks for consuming!
