Sights & Sounds: Nicole
Common Discourse is a project designed to help others (and ourselves) think through creativity, focus, and intentional work—from Alex Tan & Alice Otieno.
Every Tuesday we share words from a few ideas, a quote from somebody else, and links worth sharing. On Fridays we invite a guest to share images from their camera roll and a sound that resonates with them. Words from the journal will come at least twice a month.
Nicole (@startingfromnix) is a writer based in San Francisco, California. She writes a bi-weekly Substack newsletter exploring themes such as intimacy, choices, intuition and creativity.
Other interests and hobbies of hers include painting, learning about investing, running another newsletter with her friend Justine called, Kopi Club and yoga. A belief that underpins her worldview and writing is a line in one of Octavia Butler’s Lost Parables series — “there’s nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns”.
I recently became mutuals with Nicole on Twitter and have been finding great solace and resonance through her pieces. Some of my favourites include: People Come and Go and Self Trust.
Here’s what she shared with us this week!
