Sights & Sounds: Joel Evey
Common Discourse is a project designed to help others (and ourselves) think through creativity, focus, and intentional work—from Alex Tan & Alice Otieno.
Every Tuesday we share words from a journal, a few ideas, a quote from somebody else, and links worth sharing. On Fridays we invite a guest to share images from their camera roll and a sound that resonates with them.
Joel Evey is a carbon-based organism and the creative director of Grailed, working under the independent creative practice of Pathh. We first met Joel at the start of the pandemic during a thoughtful interview on the MW Journal and more recently have spent time with him and his partner Elie at their beautiful home in Brooklyn. Over dinner we’d recommend our favorite books to one another and talk about theories like linguistic determinism.
Joel is very wise. I’m glad to call him a friend. Here are some things he sent us this week from his studio space in Philadelphia.
