Sights & Sounds: David William Baum
Common Discourse is a project designed to help others (and ourselves) think through creativity, focus, and intentional work—from Alex Tan & Alice Otieno.
Every Tuesday we share words from a few ideas, a quote from somebody else, and links worth sharing. On Fridays we invite a guest to share images from their camera roll and a sound that resonates with them. Words from the journal will come at least twice a month.
David William Baum is a still life and fashion photographer based in Los Angeles. Additionally, he’s the founder of LIGHTWORK, a premium e-commerce product photography service.
David produces images you can feel and is my favorite person to be on set with. Great taste, even better attitude, and always trying to make the most out of every situation.
If you aren’t familiar with David’s work or him as a person, I’d encourage you to get familiar. Rearranging the order this week and placing sound first. Listen while you look.

A sound bite of me walking. All of the pictures were taken on a walk so I thought this made the most sense. Listen HERE.
